Gender, Power and News

Written, electronic and social media constitute central elements in public debates.
These media can be considered as arenas in the shaping of politics and democracy.

Concerning the inclusion of women and men as sources for news and as media experts, Danish electronic media is characterized by an interesting gender bias.
This raises a range of questions from the perspective of democracy and gender.

A democratic perspective on these questions focuses on participation in the public media:

who is included and who is excluded?

A perspective of gender focuses on a possible bias in the choices of sources and experts in the media.

The research project is study of the gender-balance of participants and contributors on a Danish current affairs programme.
